About
this work

This work reflects a self-portrait in an inhuman appearance, sticking my tongue out onto a plexiglass mirror as a metaphor for my noncompliance. This piece made me question my own identity and individuality. As a reference, I researched various poses of myself and experimented with different color combinations to create the collage. I used a pointillism technique with acrylic markers, finding it the most effective way to replicate the pixelated, digital look produced by the Procreate color drop tool. The final piece puts me in an unconventional position within a distorted composition. When looking into this mirror, the viewer is confronted with both their own reflection and this out of the ordinary composition.
