About
this work

In this project, I wanted to portray my inner world and how I present my personality to the outside. On the left side, I expressed my inner world through a colorful background, placing a colorless graphite self-portrait against it. The monochrome parts of this work represent how I am expected to behave in public, while the colorful sections capture my true personality. With this compositional shift, I aimed to confuse the viewer by playing with power balances. During my research, I used Procreate to find the right color scheme and collected graffiti photos from my London trip, which even inspired me to create my own personal artist tag. Material-wise, I used acrylic markers to make the graffiti pop and show my colorful inner self, while graphite helped me create the more monotone, calm persona shown to the public. Through this work, I truly learned how to manifest my own personality through drawing.
