About
this work

In this project, I created a skull ring to represent that all humans are fundamentally the same beneath their skin. Everyone might look different and carry distinct characteristics, but deep down, under all the social acts, we are the same; we are just bones wearing skin, trying to fit into society. During the carving of this ring out of wax, I researched human skulls to create a realistic look. I used wax and metal tools to carve this ring. After the wax carving was finished, it was cast in brass at a jeweler's using the traditional lost-wax process. In the end, this experience taught me how to work with an entirely new medium and different tools, allowing me to expand my design skills.
