Portrait of a Legacy
My grandparents drawn in graphite for the book that tells their fifty-year story.
this work
In this piece, I depicted my grandparents standing proudly during their visit to the company's fourth facility, located in Poppi, Tuscany, a milestone that followed the three major facilities they had already founded and built up in Türkiye. I created this illustration specifically for my grandfather's upcoming book, which narrates his life story and his pioneering role in growing the leather industry in Türkiye. Throughout the process, I focused deeply on detail, referencing that specific photograph to capture their looks and the significance of the moment as realistically as possible. I chose graphite on paper as my medium because its classic, traditional, serious academic style reflects and honors my grandparents' legacy. Ultimately, this drawing is a tribute to their lives' greatest achievements and enduring international impact.
