Get Me Out of Here
Stretching my own skin to show the tension between where I am and where I want to be.
this work
In this work, I reflected my inner discomfort by physically stretching my skin with my own hands. I added graffiti elements to channel the feeling of being outside, on the street. During my research, I documented and studied graffiti from various neighborhoods in İstanbul. Through this juxtaposition, I aimed to express a tension between my current situation and a strong desire for freedom. I utilized Procreate to experiment with color theory, which led me to a purple-skinned representation of myself. By bringing this digital aesthetic onto paper, I created a mixed medium look that blurs the line between handmade texture and digital precision. The outcome captures me trapped in this uncomfortable yet expressive position.
